but it seemd to blend in so easy with our daily acts and thoughts.

It made us talk about sharing and lending and exchanging, as another route than the money route.
Ideas and acts in itself are free. Restaurants too expansive? Cooking food and inviting friends (of friends) and everyone has dinner for 3 euro and the cook has dinner for free.

We talked about the stereotype of the role of the giver (rich; "good and strong") and the role of the receiver (poor - "grateful, shamed, weak"). The effort of receiving, after an experience the other day: someone out of nowhere giving me a shoppingbag in front of the AH. Me wondering why and what to do next ...(give it to someone who really needs it...)

We talked about art and ego; how on one hand the ego plays part in making art, and on the other it can become too much an ego-issue. The ego is important to get our unique work done and at the same time the ego-issue can be very much in the way. For instance: in artschool if there is too much emphasis on the talks, on the intellectual, it seems as if the artist and his work is a marketing strategy, more than anything else.

ReplyDeleteRegarding the drawing, as far as i remember, it has something to do with the term 'polarity' (please correct me if it's not) , it was to show the two opposing ideas encompassing with each other. So, it does not have to be 'one way'. Later I realized that it perfectly resonates with the mindfulness meditation we are doing.. i stay with my breathings, observing what is happening inside of me... AND at the same time being alert and open to the outside world. I thought this state of mind can also apply to art making process. I can stay truthful to what really resonates with me, and at the same time, I can be open to the voice from other people/ environment. Sometimes it may be difficult... but it feel very important to continue the dialogue between the two. (:
